Battle of the Shores

Rockwall Nebbie Jackets 6th Grade Team plays Hartman’s Jackets Saturday at Kyle Field

Saturday, September 14th will be an epic battle between two 6th Grade RYCA Jacket Teams. Both schools, Hartman and Nebbie will feed into Williams Middle School next year with the kids playing on the same team; however, this year they will battle each other for 6th grade bragging rights!

Nebbie and Hartman are made up of kids predominately in the Shores, so one could say this is the “Battle of the Shores.”
The Rockwall Youth Football Team from Nebbie is led by quarterback Tyler Ashworth. He is coming off a strong performance last week against the HHCA Heath Hawks throwing for 2 touchdowns and running for another. He is a threat anytime he is on the field directing the offense with his arm and picking up needed yards with his legs.

In the backfield with Ashworth is speedster Cody Rollins who is averaging 9 yards a carry, and has the moves to elude defenders with his playmaking abilities at receiver. Tanner Webb shows opposing defenses why they can’t just contain the corners because his style of play evolves pounding the football down their throats. Tanner also plays quarterback as well giving the Nebbie Jackets multiple options and formations.

ImageWhen defenses start keying on certain offensive players; Joseph Schaefer steps up to assure a hole will be open. He might be one of the smaller players on the team, but don’t tell him that. He will lay a hit with the best of them, and usually that means defensive players are watching the play lying on their back. Schaefer scored last week on a 12 yard pass from Ashworth late in the game.

The passing attack of Nebbie is completed by All-Star receiving group of Chace Burkey and Zach Elsey. Both players receive the ball like they have glue on their hands. Chace grabbed a beautiful touchdown last weekend for the Nebbie Jackets first score of the 2013 season.

Nebbie Jackets defense is beginning to make a name in the RYCA Football League. Schaefer leads a group of hard hitting linebackers like Brendon Murray and Tanner Webb. They occupy the defensive backfield with Cody Rollins and Tyler Ashworth at safeties. Elsey and Jaxon Rife control the corners along with Burkey and Lake Johnson at the defensive end spot.

ImageThe Doomsday Defense held last year’s Super Bowl Champion Heath Hawks to only two touchdowns which was way off their 40 point a game mark they averaged in 2012.

This Saturday will be exciting to say the least. One of the Jackets team will be victorious and the other will have to learn how to deal with defeat. However, in the end; they are all Jackets representing the RYCA program.

The RYCA Jacket Football Program is the only program in Rockwall that is vertically aligned with Rockwall High School Yellowjackets according to Head Football Coach Rodney Webb.

The RYCA (Rockwall Youth Community Association) is building a strong community tradition by developing one of the largest youth football organizations in North Texas. Each team is age and school pure which means kids from each grade and school are playing for the same team.

Rockwall’s High School Football Varsity Head Coach, Rodney Webb has stated that the RYCA is the only organization that is vertically aligned with Rockwall High School. Each team is running the same Pistol Formation Offense that the high school runs, and uses the same defensive terminology as well.

As the organization continues to grow; community involvement becomes strong. The goal is to help these boys learn a system they will be playing in for years to come and ultimately bring a State Championship or more to Rockwall.

Rockwall Youth Football Friday Night Walkthrough before First Game of the Season

Youth Football in Rockwall has started!!!

ImageFor the last 2 ½ months the RYCA Jacket Football teams have been working several hours a week to get ready for the football season that starts Saturday, September 07, 2013.  The teams will be competing against from players in and around Rockwall County.

ImageThe RYCA has built one of the largest and premier football leagues in North Texas.  These kids have trained with the Rockwall Jacket Football coaches, volunteer coaches, and parents.  The community has joined together not only to support their children, but to support their friends and children of their friends as well.

ImageRYCA is school and grade pure, and supported by Rockwall High School Football Head Coach Rodney Webb. Not only is this program vertically aligned with the high school, but it is strong on community values. Every game will feature kids who will be given an opportunity learn how to win with class, and handle the disappointment of defeat.

Yes, it is just a game. However, isn’t life? In life, we encounter victories and triumphs. We have to work with others to accomplish goals. The best isn’t always good enough, and sometimes calls don’t go our way. It isn’t always about the outcome, but it is about the journey.

ImageRockwall Youth Community Association is just that. When you watch your Jackets suit up in the morning, and travel to the field; remember, that this is all part of the journey. When they make a great play or miss an easy tackle; it doesn’t really matter in the end. What matters is did they give their best. Did they represent themselves and the community they play for the right way?

In the end, they are all Jackets. The score will show that one team is victorious and the other didn’t quite accomplish their goal of the day. However, that is where the learning starts to really take place. That is when the coaching has to be at its best. This is when parenting is the upmost important. The lessons taught through victory and defeat will prepare your Jacket for their future endeavors in life.

Here is to a great season of Rockwall Youth Football. Enjoy the games!

Jacket Fight Never Dies.

Get your Stingers UP!!! It’s August in Texas and that can only mean one thing. High School Football!!!!

The Rockwall Yellowjackets will take the field this Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 7 PM at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Football Stadium. Any child wearing the Jacket Orange Football Jersey will be able to run the field before the game.

That’s right.  Your RYCA Jackets will run through the same tunnel that high school stars such as Chris Warren and Luke Termin.  It’s OK though because they will get a head start, and won’t have to feel the same pain the Naaman Forest Rangers will feel.
